| ...but I thought I'd announce to the world that I'm training for a 10k run May 17th in Central Park, to benefit the Kidney Foundation. Let me know if you'd like to train or run with me. I'd like to do some fundraising for them, if they'd update their webpage; I just emailed them about that, so as soon as I find out how you can give them money on my behalf, I'll be sure to let you know.

| Dean is flying to Atlanta on Friday morning to start hiking the Appalachian Trail. He probably won't be updating his xanga blog very often for the next five months, so I'll post updates from him here. Feel free to leave comments you'd like me to pass along to him.

| Two groups published papers today announcing that they have created totipotent cells genetically identical to a donor, not from SCNT ("cloning"), but from skin cells. If their methods are confirmed and standardized, this could provide many of the therapeutic and research benefits that have been long-promised - but not yet realized - by embryonic stem cells, while circumventing most ethical concerns. | | |
